When your husband comes home on a Friday night and says, “Maybe we should pick up and take off tomorrow…”, you jump RIGHT on that. I have been wishing to take a little mini vacation, just the 3 of us, before our 4th human member arrives in October. I want to give our sweet little boy all the attention while he still has it! So much love for this boy. And, he has been asking his daddy to take him to the beach.
So, I decided to try out the Indiana Dunes State Park and booked a hotel claiming to be a 1.8 miles away. It was for sure, but you will NOT get a recommendation from me on that hotel. Let’s just say.. we made the best of it. I have a track record of picking gems for stays. Why doesn’t my husband take that role over after all of the times he’s had to hold his breath? Just kidding.. I at least got them to move our room this time. HA! Ohhh, the memories.
We hit the road right as hubby pulled in from work on Saturday. No time to overthink… I packed up and we took off! I told him where I chose to go and we plugged it into the GPS. We arrived to the “beach” on Saturday night at sunset which was incredibly dreamy. We threw our suits on and stayed until our tummies were starting to hurt from hunger. We found the cutest place in Chestertown for grass-fed burgers and home sliced fries. Yum. And, of course we had to hit up their homemade desserts.. key lime pie & something chocolately, of course. It’s vacation, right?!
This was our sweet Kroy’s first time to a sandy beach with waves! He was basically running towards the water as soon as he saw it! The expression on his face was worth the whole trip right there! There is nothing better in this world than seeing your child’s face light up with excitement and happiness. Ugh, melt.
He was pretty brave with sitting in the tide as it was rather high during sunset. It really is like a real beach. Without the sea urchins, of course 😉
That moment, when your mom makes you stop for a smile and you give her the under bite “I’m ornery” grin.
He decided he was going for the full experience. Somersaults in the sand and everything!
It WAS pretty darn funny after I relaxed and realized… “who cares, Ashley.”
These are memories only to be made once!
How incredibly precious our boy is to us. He was in complete awe.
I had to include this of him yelling at the waves. (Brock’s favorite) They were knocking him over left and right!
I am 33 weeks pregnant in these shots, and feeling great! I do love it when my hubs grabs the camera. Bless him for this shot!
Then, we had some major bird chasing going on. It was pretty intense. UP and down the beach… So hilarious to watch!
I love my boys so much and I had an absolute blast with them. It was the perfect way to celebrate our family of 3 (and pooch) to becoming a family of 4 very soon! I did condense this down for you guys from 150 photos. I have been sort of lax on taking my D800 out and about for personal use, but boy am I sure glad I brought it along for this.
